East Thames became a subsidiary of L&Q when we joined forces in December 2016. We expected to integrate East Thames into L&Q by 2019, but we realised it would be better for everyone if we did it sooner. We are therefore merging effective from 1 April 2018.

 

When we consulted East Thames residents they told us about some important priorities. These were:

 

•           Improved services

•           Resident satisfaction

•           Affordability 

 

In fact it turns out that these match the top three things L&Q residents also said they wanted from the merger so we are committed to keeping them in the forefront of our minds as we plan for the future.

 

Some other advantages were identified as a result of the merger. These were:

 

•           More support for residents

•           Improved efficiency

•           More homes

 

We agree with these advantages and in fact we are investing £250 million into local communities and the L&Q Academy will give new skills, qualifications and employment opportunities to the people living in our homes and communities. We are also expanding the care and support we provide so that we can reach even more elderly and vulnerable adults.

 

We are also aiming to be more efficient than ever before. We believe we can save £38 million by becoming one organisation. Plus, we have set ourselves a target to build 100,000 new homes over the next ten years – and 50% of them will be genuinely affordable.

 

We are now integrating the East Thames and L&Q customer service centres and are bringing how we manage your home in line with how L&Q does things. So if you are an East Thames resident there are some things you will notice from 1st April including the fact that our contact details are different. This is how you can get in touch with our customer service centre if you need us (for L&Q residents nothing will change):

From 1 April, this will be everyone’s first point of contact if you have a query or need a repair.

Bidding for properties on Choice Based Lettings:

 

There will be no change in how you log into the Choice Based Lettings system. The only change people will see is that there will be more homes to bid on as all residents will have access to the L&Q housing stock as well as the former East Thames stock. Your priority status and banding will be merged and we have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure that no East Thames or L&Q residents are disadvantaged as a result of these changes.
