Council housing is let on a Secure Tenancy, Housing Association housing on an Assured Tenancy. Both types of tenancy offer tenants security of tenure. Tenants new to social housing may initially be offered a one year introductory tenancy. This will be converted to a secure tenancy after one year providing the terms of the introductory tenancy have not been broken
