Registration with Other Councils
If you have strong links with another area – for example, because you work there, used to live there, or have close relatives in the area – you may be able to register on the Housing List of the relevant council. While all councils would like to be able to meet the housing needs of the clients on their housing register there is significantly less housing stock than demand in London and the surrounding areas. You can register with as many councils as you like with no penalty and different areas have different waiting times and you will be housed quicker with some councils than others. If you do register with a number of councils it is important that when you are housed you tell all councils that your accomodation need has been resolved so that they can provide as good a service as possible for those who are still in need of accomodation. Look up the individual council to see how eligible you are.
